Welcome to My First Post

I have been meaning to get this up for years and never seemed to have the time. But now I have a need. My 12 plus years teaching career will soon come to an end and looking for a new job begin. Therefore I needed to practice what I preach to all my students, a way to post my work and share it to everyone, especially to potential employers. While I have set up blogs for clients, this will be a new adventure for me personally. I hope you enjoy what is shared here. My passion for design and learning new things should show through these post and hopefully some of you will find them interesting, fascinating, humorous or just fun.

Simply Beautiful Gift Baskets

When I was working on the FW Magazine many of the advertisers supplied their ads. But a few only provide a picture and some text. They needed the ad to be build for them. This is one of those advertisers. She had no logo, a picture of a basket shown and info to be in the ad. I went to her website with only one useful item, her picture. So I went on constructing a background using colors pulled from the picture, a logo in a style equally matching. I assembled all the pieces in a way shown in this layout.

We're So Sorry

When FW Magazine was started by a bunch of eager and excited ladies that set a launch date that ended up being a little unrealistic. So when the date come and gone they needed to put something out explaining the situation to not only the awaiting viewers but also the advertisers. I had only a few hours to pull something together so they could post it right away.

Peru State College - Misty Blues Show Choir

My son is part of the Peru State College Misty Blues Show Choir. So I ask him if his group would like T-Shirts. Sure, he said. So I gave them two concepts and they loved both of them. They took it to a vote and went with the simpler of the two. We used our Direct to Garment printer to print them. But if I could do them again I would screen print them.

Walked into a new tool store with a friend of mine one day. As we where walking around looking at the great tools the store owner came up and asked what we where looking for. My friend was asking all kinds of questions about things and the next thing I know I was getting information for two banners he was interested in getting for his grand opening in a few weeks. They were going to be wrapped onto a trailer and parked down on the end of the parking lot. So this is the design he went with and was very happy. To this day he is still using it.  Recently they requested business cards. I gave them 4 options and was asked to layout a back print for them to write personal quotes on.

Vatterott Graduation Program and Invitations

After 12 years working for Vatterott College I was asked to design the Graduation Program and Invitations. I would have to say that these turned out to be the best graduation pieces that they have ever had seen in the 12 years working with them. I was so happy and proud to be able to put these together and show the respect that the students deserve after working hard on their education while many still have a family to support other with personal challenges that anyone would find to be life struggles. At the same time this has give the college an excellent image among a large crowd of potentially new students.

PLAN - Nellie Sweet Nellie

Plan is the Papillion LaVista Arts Network which puts on art camps for the youth in the local area. This Design is for the play that the youth art camp put on July 2013. The play is in the style of Dudley Do-Right – the villain, with handle bar mustache, tying the damsel in distress to the railroad.
